History
Our first event was a Dia de los Muertos exhibit proudly presenting over 35 artists. More than 200 guests from all walks of life showed up for the opening, even a couple of Texas/OU fans, we were delighted. From there things really took off. First the Black History Tribute with C.Kirk and friends coincided with Obama’s inauguration. Then Love Song opened Valentines Day and the areas favorite artists explored the relationship between love and music. Our first silent auction was Beautiful Unapologetic Selflessness. Buyers had fun naming their price and took all the art home. Her Story presented the art of women ages 9 to 88 and Meltdown featured the Texas Wax Group. We ended well with the T.V.A.A. Signature Exhibit. Artist workshops made all these exhibits – community. They included: Photography with Hal Samples and Dylan Hollingsworth, Graffiti stencil art with C.Kirk, Silk screen with Mike Arreaga, Printmaking with VET, and Encaustic with Janet Reynolds.
